Privacy policy
Last updated: May 2026
NursingUSA is operated by NursingUSA.com (“NursingUSA,” “we,” “us”). This policy explains what information we collect about you when you use nursingusa.com and related services, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
What we collect
We collect only what we need to operate the service and to help you on your path to a US nursing career.
- Account information
Email, password (hashed by our auth provider), and the role you select at sign-up (nurse, hospital administrator).
- Profile information
Name, country of birth, nationality, phone and WhatsApp numbers, and the nurse subtype you select. You provide this voluntarily; you can edit or delete it at any time on your account page.
- Documents you upload
Credentials, transcripts, English-test results, resumes, and similar files. These are stored privately and visible only to you and (if you have one) your assigned NursingUSA advisor. Hospitals cannot access them.
- Community activity
Messages you post in community channels, reactions, and reports you submit. Community posts are visible to other registered users.
- Saved hospitals and preferences
Hospitals you favorite, search filters you use, and similar product-state data.
- Payment data
If you make a purchase, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number. Stripe may collect billing details as described in their privacy policy.
- Technical and usage data
IP address, browser type, pages viewed, referral source, and similar data we collect through standard server logs and analytics. See "Cookies and tracking" below.
How we use it
- Operate the service
Authenticate you, save your preferences, deliver community features, and route you to relevant content.
- Match you with the right path
If you opt in, your profile may be shared with NursingUSA advisors so they can help with credentialing, NCLEX prep, or hospital placement.
- Connect candidates and hospitals
If you opt in, summarized profile information may be shared with US healthcare employers who have requested international-nurse candidates. We do not share documents (transcripts, credentials) without your explicit consent in each case.
- Communicate with you
Service emails (account, security) are sent to all users. Marketing emails are sent only if you check the marketing-consent box at sign-up; you can opt out at any time on your account page or via any email's unsubscribe link.
- Improve the product
Aggregated, de-identified usage data informs which features we build and which content we expand.
- Comply with legal obligations
Respond to lawful requests and enforce our Terms.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the categories of recipients listed below, and only as necessary for the purposes described.
- Service providers (data processors)
Supabase Inc. hosts our database and file storage in the United States. Vercel Inc. hosts the application. Microsoft Corporation provides email infrastructure. Stripe, Inc. processes payments. These providers process data on our behalf under contract and may not use it for their own purposes.
- NursingUSA advisors
Internal staff who help you with credentialing, prep, and placement. Advisors only see profiles assigned to them.
- US healthcare employers
Only if you opt in (per profile or per introduction). Employers see candidate-relevant fields, not raw documents.
- Analytics and product tooling
Privacy-respecting analytics via Vercel Analytics. We do not use tracking cookies for analytics and do not allow analytics providers to combine our user data with their other services for re-targeting.
- Affiliate partners
When you click a partner link (clearly labeled with a "Partner" badge — see /resources/nclex), we may share limited information with the partner (such as the click referral) and the partner may set its own cookies to attribute the click. NursingUSA may earn a commission if you purchase. We will always clearly indicate when a link is a partner link. See "Affiliate links and disclosures" below.
- Legal and safety
We may disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users.
Cookies and tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:
- Strictly necessary
Authentication and session cookies set by Supabase Auth. The site does not function without these.
- Analytics
We do not use tracking cookies for analytics. Vercel Analytics provides aggregate, privacy-respecting usage measurement without setting cookies. We honor your browser's Do Not Track setting.
- Affiliate attribution
When you click a Partner-badged outbound link, the destination site may set a cookie to credit NursingUSA with the referral. These cookies are set by the partner, not by us; they are governed by the partner's own privacy policy.
Affiliate links and disclosures
Some pages on NursingUSA contain affiliate links to third-party products and services (for example, NCLEX prep tools listed on /resources/nclex). Those links are clearly labeled with a “Partner” badge and are tagged with the rel="sponsored" attribute. When you click a partner link, we may share limited information with the partner (such as the click referral). If you make a purchase, NursingUSA may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. We will always clearly indicate when a link is a partner link. Editorial selection and descriptions are not influenced by whether a tool is a partner.
Where your data is stored
Data is stored on infrastructure hosted in the United States. If you access NursingUSA from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US. We use industry-standard transport encryption (TLS) and database row-level security to protect your data both in transit and at rest.
Data retention policy
We retain your data only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law.
- Account and profile data
Retained until you delete your account. Upon deletion, all personal data is permanently erased immediately, except records required by law which are retained for up to 30 days then purged.
- Documents you upload
Retained for three years from the upload date, after which we will prompt you to refresh, archive, or delete them. When you delete your account, all documents are immediately and permanently deleted.
- Community posts
Retained as long as the account is active. Soft-deleted messages are retained for moderation review for up to 90 days, then purged. When you delete your account, all community posts are permanently deleted.
- Server logs
Up to 90 days, in line with standard hosting-provider retention. Logs contain IP addresses and request metadata but not personal profile data.
- Anonymized analytics
Aggregated, de-identified usage data (page views, feature usage) may be retained indefinitely as it cannot be linked back to any individual.
- Legal holds
If we are required by law, court order, or regulatory request to preserve data, the applicable retention period may be extended until the hold is lifted.
Your rights (GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy laws)
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), or other applicable laws. These include:
- Access
Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction
Update or correct inaccurate information directly in your account, or by contacting us.
- Deletion (right to erasure)
Delete your account and all associated personal data at any time from your Account page. Account deletion is immediate and permanent — your profile, documents, saved hospitals, and community posts are all erased. Records required by law may be retained for up to 30 days, then purged.
- Objection / withdrawal of consent
Opt out of marketing communications at any time on your Account page, and withdraw any opt-in consent (WhatsApp, SMS) you previously gave.
- Portability
Request a machine-readable export of the personal information you provided.
- Restriction of processing
Request that we restrict processing of your data while a dispute or request is being resolved.
- Right not to be discriminated against
We will not deny you services or change pricing based on your exercise of privacy rights.
Self-service rights (deletion, correction, consent withdrawal) are available directly on your Account page. For all other requests, email inquire@nursingusa.com from the email address associated with your NursingUSA account. We will respond within 30 days.
Children's data
NursingUSA is intended for adults pursuing a nursing career. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 18. If you believe a minor has registered, contact us and we will delete the account promptly.
Security
We use TLS for all traffic, encrypted storage for files and database contents, row-level security to enforce access boundaries, and the principle of least privilege for staff access. No system is perfectly secure — if you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be communicated by email or via a prominent notice on the site at least 14 days before they take effect.
Contact
Questions, requests, or complaints about privacy can be sent to inquire@nursingusa.com.
